It starts matte
Vegetable-tanned leather starts matte. With handling the colour deepens and a sheen comes up.
Marks of use stay. They accumulate rather than get wiped away.
Every piece differs
Even in the same colour, the pattern differs a little from piece to piece.
Photographs will not match the leather exactly. Screens and lighting change how it looks.
Change the note, keep the cover
When a note is full you take it out and slide in a new one. The cover stays in your hand.
So we make covers to be kept for years, and notes to be replaced often.
